November Meeting Details
The Augusta-Aiken Audubon Society will meet on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the North Augusta, South Carolina Community Center located at 495 Brookside Drive in North Augusta
Brandon Heitkamp, Land Manager at Silver Bluff, will discuss bird-friendly forestry. Armed with a degree in forest management from Clemson, Brandon notes that Forest bird populations are declining. The common wisdom is that their needs aren’t compatible with the needs of the forestry industry — but that’s not so. Through years of experimentation, Audubon South Carolina has developed “bird-friendly” methods that foresters can use to shelter birds even while generating profits. Brandon will talk about three such methods.
