March Augusta-Aiken Audubon Zoom Meeting: Naturalist Gardens Inspired by South Carolina Wild Places
The next Augusta-Aiken Audubon Chapter Meeting will be on Thursday 11 March, at 7:00 PM Eastern. The meeting is open to the public, and will be on Zoom. Our presenter at this event will be Jenks Farmer talking about Naturalist Gardens Inspired by South Carolina Wild Places.
The trend of naturalistic gardens comes and goes over the centuries. We are now in a revival spurred by interest in ecology, nature and rejection of stayed, sterile landscapes. Jenks has designed, promoted and planted naturalistic gardens inspired by the places he loves to hike, swim, play and study. He’ll share photos of some of these gardens, including specific plants, explain how they function to bring all sorts of diversity to urban and suburban landscapes. He’ll also point out some of the challenges and problems associated with recent wild garden projects.
